“New Concepts in the Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma”

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to attend Liver Cancer Symposium 2014 on “New Concepts in the Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma” which is to be held in Ahmedabad on January 19, 2014. This event is organized by Gujarat Liver and Digestive surgery Clinic (GLDC), Gujarat Liver Cancer Clinic (GLCC) in association with Sterling Hospitals.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major health problem. The rising incidence of these cancers and the increasing complexity of their treatment present a formidable challenge to healthcare providers. It requires evidence-based evaluation and treatment by specialists who have experience managing patients with these conditions. The optimal outcomes remain dependent on accurate diagnosis and staging, adequate cancer-directed surgical resection, and proper use of multimodal therapies. In the last decades, several advancements have been produced in the preventive and therapeutical field. The refinement in surgical techniques and better selection of candidates for loco-regional therapies has expanded the life expectancy of the patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. More recently, an improved overall survival in Child–Pugh class A patients with advanced HCC upon treatment with sorafenib was observed. The effective prevention and early detection of HCC still remains as major clinical challenges.

This special CME is a consistent effort to gather experts in this field to exchange research and cutting-edge advancements in the understanding and managing of this neoplasm. This half day meeting, featuring prestigious local and national faculty, will cover non-surgical and surgical aspects of management of HCC including updates on the role of liver transplantation. This event will be divided into five sessions with talks presented by experts in the field based on best level of evidence available from the literature. On behalf of the organizing committee I extend our warmest invitation to attend Liver Cancer Symposium 2014. We hope that you will enjoy the meeting and your participation and contribution will stimulate a creative exchange of ideas.

We are looking forward to your participation at this exciting event in Ahmedabad on 19th January, 2014.

Sincerely,

Dr Hitesh Chavda
