Welcome to Liver Update 2014 in Ahmedabad
Dear colleagues and friends,
It is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to attend our 6th conference on Liver Surgery which is to be held in Ahmedabad on 7th September 2014. The theme of this meeting is “Techniques of Liver Resection - Updates and challenges”. This event is organized by Gujarat Liver and Digestive surgery Clinic (GLDC), Gujarat Liver Cancer Clinic (GLCC), Association of Ahmedabad Surgeons in association with Sterling Hospitals.
Hepatic resection is appropriate treatment for a variety of benign and primary or secondary malignant hepatic lesions. In appropriate patients with malignant disease, resection generally offers the best opportunity for long-term survival or cure. New understanding in liver anatomy, improved perioperative care, anesthesia techniques, and technological advances has improved this aspect of patient care. A rapid, recent evolution of the laparoscopic approach for liver resection has been observed mostly due to major technological improvements in laparoscopic instruments and increased hemostatic performance of different vessel-sealing devices. With improved techniques, patients previously considered unresectable have an opportunity to undergo curative surgery.
Liver Update 2014 is aimed at surgeons having a special interest in liver surgery. The scientific program would highlight the important aspects of surgical techniques and various novel therapeutic options for the different liver malignancies. A special session shall also provide insights into laparoscopic liver surgery, robotic liver resection and techniques of donor hepatectomy in living donor liver transplantation. The meeting will consist of lectures, master videos and panel discussions involving world-renowned national authorities and experts. Liver Update 2014 promises to continue the tradition of excellence and stimulate the interest of its participants.
On behalf of the organizing committee I extend our warmest invitation to attend Liver Update 2014. I am sure that you will have an enjoyable time both professionally and socially.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ahmedabad in September 2014.
With warm regards,
